The Fountain of Confession is the third puzzle in your Main Adventure. Located in the Vatican, it appears during the search for the Stolen Cat Mummy. After finding a scroll with a giant skeleton below the Tower of Nicholas V, Indy discovers a clue leading to the Fountain of Confession’s hidden entrance. Head up the ramp west of Belvedere Courtyard to reach the fountain with dragon statues. Rotate the dragons to face each other, unlocking the entrance to a large multi-part puzzle.

Fountain of Confession Step-by-Step Guide
1. Get the Fountain Gate Key
- Take the key from the chest on the fountain’s left side. Enter the nearby gate.
2. Reach the Black Dragon
- Climb to the second floor scaffolding. Swing to the black dragon and rotate its palm to reveal a lever.
3. Rotate the Black Dragon
- Use the lever to turn the black dragon toward the fountain.
4. Access the White Dragon
- Swing to the white dragon, jump to its claw, and reveal the lever.
5. Rotate the White Dragon
- Rotate the white dragon so it also faces the fountain.
6. Reveal the Puzzle Base
- Whip yank the dragon at the fountain’s center to expose the puzzle.
7. Rotate the Puzzle
- Use the fountain lever to rotate the puzzle. Start with the baptism puzzle.
8. Solve the Baptism Puzzle
- Push the boy statue closer to the center. Yank the ring to direct water to the man. Move the man to the center to complete this section.
9. Rotate to the Boat Puzzle
- Use the lever to rotate to the boat puzzle.
10. Solve the Boat Puzzle
- Rotate the puzzle rings to create a path for the boat. Use the levers above to move the boat across.
11. Unlock the Underground Gate
- Push the boy statue to the center to open the gate.
