How to Start “Welcome to Battahl”

This short side quest begins as soon as you enter the Mercantile Ward in Bakbattahl after gaining access to the city during the “Nation of the Lambent Flame” quest. Head to the Wanderer’s Haven tavern, where an NPC named Roger will approach you and automatically start the quest.The “Welcome to Battahl” side quest triggers when you walk past the Wanderer’s Haven tavern in Bakbattahl for the first time. The map below indicates the quest location.

Defeat the Ruffians in “Welcome to Battahl”

After the cutscene, Roger sends out three ruffians to challenge you.Inflict enough damage on any thug, and a short cutscene will play as a sellsword named Raghnall steps in to even the odds.

Defeat Taleef

After a short cutscene, Roger will agree to Raghnall’s request for a fair fight. You’ll then need to defeat Taleef in a 1-on-1 fight.Taleef is a Warrior and can deal a lot of damage, though his attacks are slow and easy to dodge. Avoid his wide sword swings and only attack him after he makes an attack.Once you deal enough damage, Roger will accept your victory, and the quest ends.

What Happens if You Lose Against Taleef?

If you lose the fight against Taleef, you can still complete the side quest, but you’ll only receive 2,800 XP and miss out on the Fruit Wine reward. Additionally, you’ll lose 3,000 Gold because Raghnall bets against Roger that you’ll win.Aim to win the fight, as you can use the Fruit Wine reward for the later side quest “The Sotted Sage,” which unlocks the Warfarer vocation.
