In the side quest “Ordeals of a New Recruit” in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you find a new recruit who is overwhelmed. Completing this early quest offers valuable gold and experience, so tackle it as soon as you can. Our guide provides all the information you need to start and finish the quest.
How to Start Ordeals of a New Recruit
This quest automatically begins during the main story quest “In Dragon’s Wake”. After resting at the Borderwatch Outpost, head southwest toward Melve. A conversation between guards Phill and another guard reveals that a new recruit has been sent to patrol an area beyond his experience. Phill asks you to check on Accardo to ensure his safety.
Note: This time-sensitive side quest, marked by an hourglass in the quest log, will fail if you delay too long. You can complete it quickly, but if you return later, Accardo may have perished, resulting in a failed quest.
Locate and Assist Accardo in Ordeals of a New Recruit
After accepting the quest, recruit a full party of pawns from the riftstone, then head out the southwest gate. Follow the main road west to find Accardo under attack by three harpies, located just south of the Borderwatch Outpost. Rescue him by defeating the harpies.
Head Back to the Borderwatch Outpost
After saving Accardo, return to the Borderwatch Outpost and report to Phill. He will reward you for your help, completing the quest. Upon entering the southwest gate, Phill will thank you in a dialogue, concluding the quest.
You’ll receive some Lantern Oil and 1,000 G as a reward.
