Introduction
Captain Brant assigns you the main quest “An Unsettling Encounter” in Dragon’s Dogma 2. He tasks you with sneaking into the palace to investigate a suspicious delivery.
An Unsettling Encounter Walkthrough
In this brief quest, you’ll sneak into the palace to investigate a mysterious package. Ask Brant about the “rumors about Allard,” then exit the Tavern and head to The Royal Quarter.
Enter the Vernworth Castle
Head to Vernworth Castle in the Royal Quarter at night. Sonia, one of Brant’s guards, will escort you to the Guardhouse attached to the palace. Equip the Marcher’s Armor Set and step inside.
Locate the Battahli-Crested Letter in Allard’s chambers.
Enter the palace through the Guardhouse and turn right. Cross to the opposite side and take the staircase to the top floor. Turn left and head toward the quest-marked room. A cutscene shows Sven creating a distraction. Once Allard leaves his office, rush inside. Though the room seems empty, examine the brick wall on the left to find a hidden recess. Walk into it to reveal a secret room containing the Battahli-Crested Letter.
Escape the castle
Jump out the window near the minister’s desk and drop into the courtyard. As you try to leave, a noblewoman named Wilhelmina stops you, triggering a long cutscene where she protects you from a guard. Afterward, she gives you the Myrmecoleon Card, allowing you to leave.
Return to Brant to finish the “An Unsettling Encounter” Quest
Go back to Brant at the Tavern and present the letter to receive your reward: 5,500 gold, 1,200 XP, and a Ring of Accrual.
You’ve finished ” An Unsettling Encounter quest” and can start the next one “The Nameless Village”. You can also access the guide for the previous quest, “The Arisen’s Shadow.”
